About Me
On a personal level:
I am, as my professional background suggests, very interested in new technologies and their uses, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, multimedia, robotics, and energy. In addition to this, I greatly enjoy board games (with a preference for hidden role or management games) and reading (whether it be comics, manga, or novels). I also enjoy independent video games and cinema. I have a particular fondness for science fiction.
I have had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout my life and I love it. Originally from Béthune in the Pas-de-Calais, I have lived in Lille, Metz, Strasbourg and finally Clermont-Ferrand. I have visited a good number of European countries, but I have also been fortunate enough to have had a number of school and work experiences in Japan: in Yokohama, Fukuoka and Tsukuba, which have given me a special affection for this country.
I am also an avid hiker and racket sports enthusiast.
On a professional level:
I am a Computer Vision Doctor and Engineer, initially specialized in non-rigid registration issues and their use for augmented reality applications. In addition to my expertise in computer vision, I also have strong experience in deep learning and artificial intelligence in general, both from a theoretical and technical perspective.
Currently, I am working as a Data Science Technical Manager at SurgAR in Clermont-Ferrand, a company that develops augmented reality devices for computer-assisted surgery. I supervise the technical development and implementation of the pipeline for collecting and annotating medical data from partner hospitals to the company's cloud infrastructure. I also supervise the software integration of neural networks initially prototyped by the research team members. Additionally, I offer my expertise in computer vision and machine learning in various research projects and for the development of the company's augmented reality software. Through my current position, I have gained significant knowledge of the world of medical software development, including its legal and regulatory implications.
About Me
When working in a team:
I am someone who is very comfortable working in a team. I enjoy being part of and managing teams with diverse profiles and a wide range of different personalities. There is nothing better to facilitate stepping back and gaining a more complete, broader vision of a project or anything else. I am very comfortable with the scientific aspect and I enjoy bridging the gap with other teams such as development and communication teams.
I enjoy making scientific and technical knowledge accessible to others. I am very patient and pedagogical. During my personal time, it is not uncommon for me to get carried away and have long discussions about a particular technology, whether it be its functioning or its history.
I am someone who is very curious, hands-on, and proactive. When I am involved in a project, I like to be fully immersed in it. I enjoy strong bonds within a team and my colleagues often become people I enjoy seeing outside of work.
Work
Experience
2021-2024 - SurgAR - Data Science Manager Clermont-Ferrand
Design and supervision of the technical implementation of a pipeline for collecting and annotating medical data from partner hospitals to the company's cloud environment.
Project leader for the development of surgical video anonymization and metadata addition software, developed in C++/Qt.
Project leader for the development of data access software for medical personnel and researchers who need to request this data, developed in PHP/Symfony.
Implementation of the Google Cloud Platform infrastructure associated with the data pipeline.
Participation in the deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of a software solution for annotating medical data on the Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.
Design of a Python template for integrating artificial neural networks used in the medical devices of the company, their training, and evaluation.
Organizing scientific meetings with different teams within the company to raise awareness about machine learning issues and to explain the latest advances in this field in a way that is accessible to them.
Writing procedures and support documents related to the company's Data Science activity to comply with the ISO 13485 standard.
Supervision of various research projects associated with the development of artificial neural networks to be used in the company's current and future software.
Detection and segmentation of anatomical structures of the uterus.
Classification of identifying images in surgical videos.
Detection of peritoneal cancer lesions in laparoscopic images.
Scientific watch associated with advances in the field of artificial intelligence and its use within medical devices.
Participation in the implementation of the cybersecurity strategy for the company and its software.
2020-2021 - SurgAR - R&D Engineer Clermont-Ferrand
Participation in the development of augmented reality software for computer-assisted laparoscopic gynaecological surgery.
Participation in writing procedures and support documents related to the Design and Development activities of the company in order to comply with the ISO 13485 standard.
2016-2020 - EnCoV and IHU Srasbourg - PhD Student Clermont-Ferrand and Strasbourg
Completion of a PhD thesis on the subject of Deformable Registration, Datasets, and Evaluation Protocols for Augmented Minimally Invasive Abdominal Surgery.
Development of a deformable registration solution from an initial model configuration to a scene where the model is seen in a deformed configuration by modeling the mechanical properties and behavior of the model.
Adaptation of the proposed solution in order to be used in the registration of patient abdomen models constructed from 3D reconstructions using CT images, to a scene in which the patient's skin surface is reconstructed using a Structure-from-Motion method.
Participation in the integration of this solution into research prototypes used by IHU Strasbourg.
Adaptation of the proposed solution, taking into account constraints on internal collisions of the model, for the registration of liver models constructed from 3D reconstructions of CT images, to a laparoscopic scene in which the liver is observed in a deformed configuration.
Development of a surface reconstruction solution using Multi-View Stereo with photometric constraints in the context of laparoscopic surgery.
Creation of datasets and evaluation protocols associated with the different achievements of the PhD.
2016 - Devatics - R&D Engineer Toulouse
Participation in the development of an online platform for analyzing user behavior on e-commerce websites.
2015 - CNRS-AIST-JRL - Intern in Computer Vision Tsukuba
Six-month internship with the objective of using an RGB-D camera to detect and compute poses of reflective surfaces in images. These poses are then used to deduce the position of a humanoid robot in the scene on which the camera was mounted, and thus augmenting the final image by using a human avatar replacing the visual of the robot.
2014 - IRIT - Intern in Computer Vision Toulouse
Two-month internship with the objective of developing a system based on stereo-photometry used to obtain 3D reconstruction of an object placed in front of a computer by using the computer screen as a controlled light source.
